Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Simply put, The Interviewer collects only what it needs to run and improve the app. There is no account and the app never asks for your name or email address. Some services below use random identifiers for your app or device, which aren't linked to your name.
Information collection
Interview data
To create your interview questions, read them aloud, transcribe your answers and give you feedback, the app sends the following to our servers, which run on Google Cloud (Firebase), and from there to a third-party AI service:
- the role you type;
- the questions you've already been asked in that interview;
- recordings of your answers;
- your resume text, if you choose to add a resume. It is screened by an automated content filter and used to tailor your questions. The resume file itself never leaves your device.
The Interviewer uses OpenAI for this processing; their privacy policy is here: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy. On iPhone, question audio is created by Google Cloud text-to-speech; Google's privacy policy is here: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Our servers don't save your recordings or your resume. For troubleshooting, our server logs keep a short excerpt of each answer's transcript and the feedback you received, for 30 days, after which they are deleted automatically.
Analytics data
Usage information is collected to understand how the app is used, for example when you finish an onboarding step, start or complete an interview, or view the subscription screen. On both platforms this includes the role you type, and your answer if you type one to "How did you hear about us?".
- iPhone: TelemetryDeck. Their privacy policy: https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/
- Android: Google Analytics for Firebase. This also includes an app-instance identifier, an approximate location derived from your IP address (country or region, not your precise location). The app shows no ads and doesn't collect the advertising ID. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
This data is used only to improve the app.
Crash reports (Android)
If the Android app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report: the technical details of the error, basic information about the device (such as its model and Android version), a random installation identifier, and the app actions just before the crash. Firebase keeps crash reports for 90 days.
App integrity
To protect our servers from misuse, Firebase App Check confirms that requests come from the real app on a genuine device: App Attest on iPhone, Google Play Integrity on Android. This sends a token about the app and device, not your personal information. Our servers also receive your IP address with each request. They use it to limit how many requests one address can make, and our server logs may record it for 30 days.
Payment information
Purchases are made through Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android). Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/en-ww/. Google's: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
The Interviewer also uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. Their privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. Your purchases are tracked with an anonymous identifier and aren't tied to your name or email address.
Information usage
Information collected by The Interviewer is used only to operate and improve the app. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We will not share your information with outside parties without your consent, except with the service providers named above, which process it on our behalf to run the app.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
The Interviewer is not marketed towards or intended for anyone under 13 years old. We do not collect or maintain information from anyone known to be under 13 years old.
Information for European Union Customers
By using The Interviewer you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.
International Transfers of Information
Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located.
Data storage and deletion
Your interviews, recordings and resume are stored on your device. Deleting the app, or clearing its storage, deletes them. You can delete your resume at any time in Settings.
On iPhone, if you use iCloud Backup, your interviews, recordings and resume are included in your iCloud backup. On Android, if you use Google's device backup, your interviews and resume are included in your backup in your Google account; the recordings are not.
Data held by our service providers is deleted on their retention schedules described above. Because there are no accounts, we can't identify which of it is yours.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when the app's data practices change, and change the date at the top.
Your Consent
Usage of The Interviewer constitutes consent to this privacy policy.
